Love can appear in a simple touch. The physical forms—a hand holding another hand, for example—can reflect deep feelings of love and caring.
Try the following gentle practice of mindful hand-holding to explore the territory of love with your partner:
When you have a few moments together, take your partner’s hand. Tell him what you are doing. Invite him to practice mindfully holding hands with you.
Breathe mindfully for about a minute. After a few breaths, open and include mindfulness of body sensations.
Set your intention. For example: “May this practice deepen our love.”
Let your attention rest completely on his hand. Hold, squeeze, and caress it, exploring his hand fully, slowly, and gently.
Notice your own changing sensations with affection.
Notice any movements in his hand.
Let love and affection flow from your hands to him.
